After today’s amazing session “Making Progress Despite Opposition”:

In every ’s life opposition is just an everyday reality. We are harassed, discriminated, raped. So no matter if we are in the feminist organizations, political parties, trade unions, or we just go on the street, work, take care of children – we have to fight. WE FIGHT ALL THE TIME.

And they say that war is man’s thing.

Whatever we decide, however we fight, we hear that we’re too aggressive or radical. Men don’t hear that after their every move – being aggressive for them is something to be proud of.

I hear that after every text I write. After every manifestation or performance. I just know that whatever I do, nicely and politely or stronger – I’ll be named aggressive and radical.

So I don’t care (or I pretend that). I just scream when I want to scream because I see that our government wants to ban abortion in Poland. I’m helpful, calm and peaceful when I support survivors, when I talk to them every day. Sometimes I’m really angry – when I see that most perpetrators and rapist don’t have to suffer any consequences. And I don’t want to be nice and polite when I’m angry.

This is how I became aggressive and radical. Because I have feelings and opinions, and I don’t hide them (or I pretend that. Obviously, I hide some of them. Maybe most. Maybe not).

All this fighting is really exhausting – our lives with all these everyday fights are exhausting. Mother’s, daughter’s, worker’s life is exhausting.

Every day in the newspaper we should see articles on the main page: FIGHT AGAIN. And women will win. It means that no one will have to fight for his/her/their safety.
